Week 25: Vacation vs. introduction as successor

Job search formerly self-directed (ER) vs. NewPlacement coaching (NP).
   
Previously self-directed, since the 14th week in NewPlacement-Coaching: HE now has two weeks before he starts the new job. After 24 weeks of job search, HE can go on a 10-day vacation with peace of mind. However, the NewPlacement-Coach asks him to prepare for the job insurance and to organize the already existing knowledge about the organizational chart and structures as well as to make them available to the coach for preparation.
  
In NewPlacement coaching since the beginning: At the company anniversary event, the owner asks NP to come forward and introduces him to the employees as his perspective successor who will gradually take over his responsibilities. This news strikes a chord with longtime companions. One long-time colleague and opinion leader in particular is deeply disappointed and leaves the event. Over the next few days, she has several conversations with the long-time companions and the owner's daughter.
  
Our recommendations in this regard:
49. After signing the contract, a lot falls off the candidate. That is why, despite the company's insistence, a vacation with "soul-searching" should be planned before starting. The stress of an application process lasting several months with ups and downs is often underestimated in retrospect.
50. Successful succession planning requires a high degree of political and diplomatic skill. If this intention on the part of the owner or job holder is not prepared within the company's management circle, this can lead to serious conflicts.
