Week 16: Positioning & Application Strategy vs. Onboarding

Job search initially self-directed (ER) vs. NewPlacement coaching (NP)

Initially in self-direction, since the 14th week in NewPlacement-Coaching: The coach presents the prepared elevator pitch to set the mood and then discusses the positioning with characteristics, target job, success fields and based skills. The offer with its matching advantages becomes increasingly clear and is also reflected in the short and detailed profile. In the application strategy, the first joint approach targets the secret job offers of headhunters. Existing contacts receive an update of the launch documents. However, the "digital me" is still brought up to date beforehand.

Since the beginning in NewPlacement-Coaching: This week NP starts the new challenge, the introduction (inaugural speech), getting to know each other in 5:55 mode as well as the experience and classification of informal networks are on the agenda. In the first jour fixe with his new Direct Reports, he encounters a "wall of defensiveness." While getting to know his colleagues, he had already learned that one of this circle had himself thrown his hat into the ring for the new management job. Out of solidarity, he is now being supported by the other Direct Reports.

Our recommendations in this regard:
31. Although our exclusive JobSearcher scans more than 500 headhunters' websites for unpublished projects, "secret" job openings are often not found there either. Therefore, approaching headhunters with hits in the per mille range remains an important runway to success. In doing so, one encounters lesser-known headhunters with excellent networking skills.
32. dealing with "internal job aspirants" is one of the most important prerequisites for successful job insurance. One must be able to sit in the "chair" of the person concerned, recognize his motivations and work out ways out with the coach. In doing so, one should not enlist the help of one's own superior, nor should one build up a pressure scenario.
