17. The new colleagues

Professional change / integration
Finding your own position in the company
Business units in companies often have fluid boundaries. If the predecessor has already left, shifts may have already occurred. Resetting these "boundary lines" requires a lot of diplomatic skill and ideally sparring with the NewPlacement coach. The preparation already begins in the get-to-know-you conversations with colleagues, which should be conducted according to the 5:55 rule. Just by listening, the manager learns about many insides and backgrounds that will be helpful for his successful future work. Successful horizontal interface management benefits from alliances and support from the supervisor. The expansion of one's own area should only ever be done in one direction and should be well prepared so as not to turn all colleagues against oneself at the same time. It should not be forgotten that the new manager - in contrast to the other colleagues - largely lacks the sustainable informal lines of support. Integrating oneself and the business unit for which one is responsible requires patience. The NewPlacement coach should be consulted for the appropriate strategy.
