6. Successor - Operational separation

Successful exit
No manager wants to be addressed by the owner like this, for example: "Thank you very much for the many years of cooperation, which ends today. Your successor will take over tomorrow. You are released from your duties. No value is placed on training the successor. If the executive is then accompanied to clean up his desk and shown the door, the "worst case" scenario is perfect. In this case, a successor was sought behind the executive's back and, even at this time, many managers do not realize this because they are fully caught up in professional constraints. In the context of the professional mutual separation, a 1-2 day handover takes place. The successor is introduced to the company by the manager. In small talk, it is explained that it was time to take on a new challenge, but that it is not allowed to talk about this at the moment ("the predecessor knows nothing"). Subsequently, the successor from the home office is given advice and support by telephone as part of the leave of absence.
