Gerd Löffler - up close and personal
Born in East Prussia in 1944, Gerd Löffler grew up south of Hamburg as the youngest of four children. As a pupil he didn’t always strike the right balance between books and sports. He was team captain, top scorer and youth trainer for handball.
He took on full responsibility for his own life at the age of 15, due to the death of his father. He passed the high school, studied law and psychology in Marburg and Hamburg, and worked in different jobs during holidays. His two children, when young, have been his favourite “hobby”. His interests include psychology and people, especially the social integration of individuals. He enjoys politics, chess, tennis, cycling and swimming. Strengths: a good listener who understands and respects people.
