Frank Nehring was born in Berlin and is deeply rooted there. He attended school in Berlin, studied in Berlin and Leipzig, and worked in Berlin, Wiesbaden and Baden-Baden before returning to the now unified Berlin. He has been married for over 35 years and is the father of one adult son.
“Berlin has always been a synonym for change and personal challenges. As a child, during my time in school and as a publishing manager I experienced Berlin as the capital of the former German Democratic Republic. During my time as the head of marketing for East Germany and eastern Europe for Gabler Verlag, I experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall and the city’s transformation into the new German metropolis it is today. When I returned to Berlin in 1996 and founded my own publishing house, Berlin was still a divided city in the minds of many Berliners. Fortunately, that has changed for the most part. And the Baltic Sea is once again easy to reach from Berlin. Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Warnemünde is simply fantastic, and walking on the beach so relaxing.”
